I recently watched the first season of the TV show ‘True Detective’. Besides a great song for the opening credits, they also featured some cool motion graphics. So I decided to try and mimic that for some new portrait photos of myself. I did the base masks in Photoshop and hand painted back the strains of hairs extending beyond and created a matte from that for the compositing, which I did in After Effects for these. So all the blending modes, effects, optical flares, colour grading etc. was done inside of After Effects. The overlaid photos are pictures I’ve taken myself on various vacations through the years. They feature the worlds fifth largest cathedral Duomo di Milano, the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben as well as some from the great Hoover Dam. Before/After sliders are at the bottom of the page, so be sure to check those out.
