MARILYN is Lulu Badulla’s first diamond jewelry. A contemporary diamond if you will. It’s a classic facet cut diamond shape with real proportions. But it lacks the stone. All it leaves is an illusion, a 3D sketch of a real diamond, made of air. It’s humor and elegance hand in hand. It’s a project I helped a colleague accomplish, or rather his wife’s jewel company Lulu Badulla. First I modeled the classic facet cut diamond in Maya at a 1:1 precise millimeter ratio, then I used the edges to extract new geometry to form the skeleton in a precise thickness from a simple nurbs circle. Then I took it into ZBrush, Dynameshed it and exported an STL file for 3D print production. This is the result. The diamond is available in Gold, rhodium and silver.
